WHY LASER HAIR REMOVAL IS BETTER?

In order to feel desirable and well-groomed, one can fall back on a wide range of hair removal methods. Shaver or epilator, cold wax, warm wax or depilatory cream. And they all have one thing in common: they are not permanent! Depending on how strong the hair growth on the legs is, you may need to use a razor or epilator several times a week. While shaving and depilatory cream are at least painless, epilating and waxing can't even score points with them. There are much more reasons for the permanent laser hair removal with our diode laser.

HOW DOES THE DIODE LASER WORK?

A constant laser beam penetrates through the shaved hair and its melanin content to the stem cells in the hair. Since the light with its wavelength (810 nm) is adjusted to permanent hair removal, the light energy is absorbed by the melanin in the hair and converted into heat. This warming leads to the final destruction of the hair follicle without affecting the surrounding tissue, as the haemoglobin (blood pigment) in the skin has a different wavelength from the other pigments, therefore the tissue is specifically spared. At about 65°C, the protein in the stem cell is denatured, i.e. the hair roots are destroyed in such a way that they cannot grow back, as the protein in the tissue around the hair follicle fuses.

WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BEFORE THE TREATMENT?

Two weeks before, during and at after the treatment, sun and solarium must be avoided.

The laser beam only works if the hair roots are in the skin. Therefore, the hairs of the areas to be treated must not be epilated or plucked out one month before the treatment, but only shaved.

Do not apply perfumes or shampoos to the treated areas directly before the treatment. Shave the hair briefly, because the shorter the hair, the less painful the treatment is.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BE HAIRFREE?

For perfect results, several treatments are necessary, as only those hairs that are in the growth phase at that time can be treated successfully. During one session, this is usually 20 percent of all hairs, the others are in the transition or resting phase. After about four to ten weeks, another part of the hair root becomes active and can now be treated. For this reason, about six to ten treatments are necessary to affect all hairs in their respective growth phase. However, not only the staggered growth of the hairs, but also the personal type plays a key role with regard to the number of treatments. As a rule of thumb, the lighter the skin and the darker the hair, the better and faster the result. White and grey hairs cannot be treated because the melanin (dye of the hair) is completely missing and the laser cannot find the hair root.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN IPL AND A DIODE LASER?

Both technologies are based on pure, red-wave light, but they differ in wavelength. With the diode laser, the wavelength is fixed (808/810nm), while the IPL process emits a broader wave spectrum, which is between 450 and 730 nm depending on the device. The difference between the two variants is that the laser beams reach the melanin in a very targeted manner, whereas the IPL rays also heat the surrounding skin. The results with the IPL technique are strongly dependent on the skin pigmentation and the intensity of the skin pigmentation. Complete results with the IPL technique are visible with a total of 30 treatments, depending on the person and body region - with the laser, this result can be achieved with only 8-10 treatments. While laser devices may only be used by certified institutions and medical practices, IPL devices can be used by almost everyone. Professional lasers have another advantage because of the higher penetration depth into the skin. They can grab the hair directly at the root and thus ensure longer lasting hair removal.
